Shiloh's Birthday
Shiloh’s Birthday
It was Shiloh’s birthday on Monday.
While we were working, we saw Flor and Gordon at our
classroom door.
They were holding yummy cupcakes and a stack of
pizzas. We wondered why they were bringing treats for us. Then we remembered
that it was Shiloh’s birthday.
The cupcakes had chocolate icing with colourful sprinkles
on them. Some of them had cars or dinosaurs on a stick and others had fairies.
We sat in a circle and ate the
delicious pizzas first. There were four different toppings on the pizzas so we
could choose our favourite.
Afterwards we felt
we felt very happy that we could help Shiloh celebrate his birthday.

Dear Parents and
Caregivers,
Welcome back to another school term. It is nice to know that we will
have more daylight to enjoy as the term progresses.
A lot of the children managed to avoid sicknesses last term, so
hopefully they can stay well this term and enjoy all the fun activities that
are planned.
Our theme this term is Communication. We thought it would
be fun to look at how we communicate through The Arts. We will be observing our
changing city scape and using drama, dance and music to express what we see and
understand. A trip to the Art Box in the city is planned, as well as a visit to
the Linwood Library on Friday,1st August. We are lucky to have this
trip paid for by the school.
The Health topic this term is the excellent “Keeping Ourselves
Safe” programme. Watch out for more about this in the school newsletter.
There will be lots of opportunities for a variety of writing and
oral language exercises. We will be exploring the narrative genre in
particular. Later in the term Room 1 and 2 will have our annual Poetry Recital
competition. This is a great confidence booster for the children. More
information on this will follow closer to the event.
Kiwi Sport will continue this term and Room 1 and 2 will also be
having the 2 regular PMP sessions each week. It is wonderful to see the
confidence and skills that have been developed in the children who have been
doing this programme since we first introduced it in 2012. It is certainly very
worthwhile. The children love it and we are all grateful to the generous
parents who volunteer to make this possible.
This term starts with our St Anne’s Feast Day celebration on Friday
to which you are all invited (see school newsletter). The term ends with the
Mission Fair. In our RE programme we will be covering the Church strand and also
be introducing the Sacrament strand when we will learn more about our baptism.
We will also be acknowledging Social Justice Week.
Don’t forget to check out our class blog : stannes102.blogspot.co.nz.
and feel free to register as a follower
and post comments. You are also welcome to email photos of special events or
visitors that the children might like to share. Room2@stannes.co.nz
Children who celebrate their birthday or half birthday will be
receiving their reports this term. This will be followed up by an interview.
Thanks for all your support.
