Term 2 Newsletter

Room 2 Newsletter   Term 2 2016
Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to the second term of the year. What a bonus that the great weather is continuing.

This term our overall theme is Looking at our school in the early days and what it was like then for students and teachers. You may already be getting questions about what school was like when you were a child.

As part of this study we will visit Ferrymead on the 25th May. We have been lucky enough to secure a donation from Ferrymead Rotary so the cost for this trip is only $5. This will provide us with lots of opportunities for writing. The main genre this term will be report writing.

In our Education in Faith programme we will be learning about ways that the Holy Spirit works in us and talking about Pentecost. Then we will move on to the Church strand. As part of this we will explore what church was like in the past. We will also be looking at the structure of the mass and learning about the Liturgy of the Word. Near the end of the term we will be part of a class/parish mass. More on this later.

Physical Ed will be a combination of dance, gymnastics and winter ball skills. The main Arts subject will be music.
The students really enjoy the Kiwi Can programme on a Friday with Nicky and Sophie and that will continue.

We are back in the classroom at 2.30. If you are already at school to pick up your child, you are most welcome to come in and talk to your child about her/his learning. There is always something to share. Please follow our blog too. www.blogspot102.co.nz

I am always contactable by email (marian@stannes.co.nz) if you are unable to come into school.

Thanks for all your support.

Marian
